The work
- Interviewers — sit with a family across several conversations and draw out the parts they would not have thought to tell.
- Editors — read a full manuscript and work with the family until it is good rather than merely finished: structure, pacing, what to cut.
- Writers — write the book, with Oshin doing the interviewing and indexing underneath.
How it works
Book by book, paid per project, no exclusivity. Oshin handles the scheduling, the transcription, and the index of who said what; you do the part that needs a person. You are matched to a family, not assigned a queue.
What we look for
Published or professional experience in biography, memoir, journalism, oral history, or documentary — and more than that, a temperament for it. These are conversations with people in their eighties about the hardest and best things that happened to them. The listening matters more than the prose.
